You just finished shooting Me and Orson Welles with Zac Efron and Claire Danes. How was that experience?
Beautiful. It’s coming out this fall. I couldn’t be more happy with it. And Zac is fantastic. He worked really hard. I know it’s always boring when people say how great everyone is they work with, but Zac’s the real deal and he’s going to have a really long career, because he’s meant to be here.

So he’s not just a song and dance man?
He’s too talented, he’s too much a natural. I’ve never met anyone less conflicted about performing. He’s just born to do what he’s doing. And he’s really smart, and he works hard. He has a good family. I’d say his foundation is such that he’s not going to be a [expletive] up and sabotage himself.

Over the weekend, Zac took some sailing lessons at Marina del Rey to prepare for his upcoming role in The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud.

Looks like the 21-year-old actor is preparing for The Life and Death of Charlie St. Cloud. In the novel, cemetery caretaker Charlie’s world gets shaken up by beautiful Tess Carroll, a sailor who had plans to be one of the first women to circumnavigate the globe solo.

After some sailing lessons on the Toy Story sailboat, Zac munched on some sushi.

The Life and Death of Charlie St. Cloud is set to start filming in Vancouver in August this year.

The 21-year-old actor, who shot to stardom in the High School Musical franchise, will also serve as executive producer with Mandate Pictures’ Nathan Kahane.

Penning the flick is Leslie Dixon, who has a few hits under her belt: Hairspray, Freaking Friday, The Thomas Crown Affair and Mrs. Doubtfire.

The sexy movie news was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

After cutting himself loose from the big-screen remake of Footloose, could Zac Efron be eyeing the Rock of Ages movie? According to the New York Daily News, the High School Musical alum is rumored to be up for the lead in a feature film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical—and he’s supposedly competing with Brokeback Mountain star Jake Gyllenhaal.

The Oscar-nominated Gyllenhaal is already attached to another movie musical; he’s reportedly playing Joe Hardy opposite Jim Carrey’s Devil in Craig Zadan and Neil Meron’s Damn Yankees remake. Patrick Wilson’s name has also been bandied about for the role of Stacee Jaxx, currently played by James Carpinello. (Efron and Gyllenhaal would presumably be in line to play the hero Drew, created by Tony nominee Constantine Maroulis.)

The ROA movie will be helmed by the musical’s librettist, Chris D’Arienzo, who directed the upcoming film Barry Munday, starring Wilson. - Broadway.Com

Sure, everyone hearts Zac Efron. What’s not to love? He’s cute, charming, talented and he actually seems, dare we say…humble?

And Jeremy Piven seems to think so too. E! News caught up with Entourage’s most A-type star, Ari Gold, at the premiere of The Hangover and here’s what he has to say about Zac’s upcoming guest spot…

“He actually is a total sweetheart, and he was awesome, and now he’s going to become a client of Ari Gold,” Jeremy told E!

An exact airdate hasn’t been confirmed yet for his guest role, but Jeremy said, “It will be in kind of the middle. But it’ll be nice. It’ll be a step up in a major way. He comes on as himself, like David Schwimmer does. A lot of people come on as themselves and they are very self-deprecating and taking one for the team. And they don’t look great in it. And they’ve been amazing. People have been incredible. It’s been an amazing year.”

As we previously scooped, Zac filmed his scenes for the episode at the Beverly Hills Niketown store on Tuesday morning.
